Martial Arts for ages 6-12 yrs. old
First
To be able to develop intermediate through advanced motor skills, but we are sure you have heard this before. What does this all mean? There are two types of motor skills, Gross Motor Skills and Fine Motor Skills. The Gross Motor Skills answer for large muscle performance tasks such as walking, balancing or crawling. The Fine Motor Skills answer for smaller muscle groups that affect movements such as wrists, hands, fingers etc. We will also begin basic muscle development of large muscle group and fast twitch muscle groups. We have an understanding that many kids like to try different sports, and some do Martial Arts and another sport side by side. By training basic muscle groups and fast twitch muscle groups we will be able to help our students to reach new heights in their other areas of sport.
Second
We will be focusing on the Martial Arts aspect, this will include everything from basic Martial Arts to the more advance techniques which will include, spinning, turning, body control, jumping, pattern memorization and of course Self-Defense/Bully Defense. One of our biggest focus is to make sure that all the students are having fun, however we want to make sure that they are having fun through learning Martial Arts.
Third
We focus on character development, respect, focus, self-discipline. We would like to point out that many schools have this as a priority, and that is fine. For us we teach Martial Arts first, and through Martial Arts the character development will shine. We have a simple understanding, if you teach someone what confidence is, this will not make them confident. It’s the same as knowing that you need to do the right thing but were never actually taught and walk through how to do the right thing. At New Vision Martial Arts, we will be teaching all these life skills through Martial Arts, because we believe that you came to a Martial Arts School and that character development is an integral aspect of the Martial Arts, not an added benefit.
Benefits
The benefits of training children in the martial arts are undeniable. First and foremost, students progress in leaps and bounds on their fine and gross motor skills. Your child will begin to build muscles and acquire a new strength that will lead them to success in all sports and activities – not just the martial arts. Next, students will pick up cool techniques that will get them hooked on martial arts. While in the Junior program, students will begin with the basics and slowly make their way into advanced skills that include spinning, jumping, and pattern memorization. Finally, martial arts isn’t just good for the body – it’s good for the soul. At New Vision Martial Arts, we place a special focus on character development among our Junior students. Through our training, we aim to impart values of self-development, respect, focus, and discipline among our students.
Our youngest students will begin their martial arts training in Taekwondo. We find that this discipline is easy on the knees, can be grasped quickly, and fosters a passion for martial arts from day one.
